"Meanwhile" is the one hundred and fortieth and last episode of Futurama, the twenty-sixth and last of the seventh production season and the thirteenth and last of the tenth broadcast season. It aired on 4 September 2013, on Comedy Central. Fry asks Leela to marry him, and they face their destiny together as the professor's latest invention alters the fabric of time.

Plot
Act I: "My little meatbag's growin' up!"
The episode finds Fry, Leela and Bender making a delivery to the moon and visiting the amusement park there. After a ride accident, Leela seemingly dies. Luckily, all is well. She was trapped inside a stuffed animal. The close call was too much for Fry to handle, and he announces to Bender that he's going to finally propose to Leela.

Meanwhile, Professor Farnsworth invents a device that lets him travel 10 seconds into the past: the time button. He uses it to steal money from Zoidberg whilst the rest of the crew watches from the time shelter that shields them from the button's effects. Fry takes the time button to steal diamonds, along with Bender.

He uses the stolen diamonds to fashion an engagement ring, which he hides in a clam. When he presents it to Leela, she reaches for the ring and the clam snaps shut, severing her hand and a bloody stump.

Act II: "Goodbye, my love..."
Fry uses the time button to go back to before Leela's hand is severed, he injures the clam and proposes once again telling Leela to meet him on the top of the Vampire State Building at 6:30pm to give her answer. Leela seemingly jilts Fry and, heartbroken, he jumps from the skyscraper.

While falling, Fry spots Leela arriving at 6:25pm; the time button did not account for Fry's watch making it seem as if Leela was late. Fry uses the time button to try and get back on the roof but is trapped in an infinite loop of falling from the top of building and a terrified Leela looking up at him.

Meanwhile, the professor calls Bender, Hermes, Amy and Zoidberg into the time shelter, where Bender reveals that Fry took the time button to the Vampire State Building, they carefully make their way to the building and meet Leela, Fry loses the button and dies upon impact, left as a puddle of blood and guts. A distraught Leela uses the time button to send him back into the sky but the professor is seemingly killed at the same instant, having being inside of the shelter, less than 10 seconds prior to the button press meant his chronitons were scattered.

Leela uses the button over and again to hear what happened with Fry, who suffers death after death. Bender devises a plan to use his air bag to save Fry. He exits to be crashed into by Amy, Hermes and Zoidberg and his air bag successfully saves Fry. Elated, everyone begins to celebrate until Fry lands on the time button, leaving the entire universe save Leela and himself frozen.

Act III: "I was never lonely, not even for a minute."
After witnessing a strange glimmer travel across the air, Fry and Leela go on with their marriage, bringing along their friends and family to the wedding albeit frozen in time. They spend the rest of their lives travelling the world on the ultimate honeymoon: going to Africa, France, the Arctic, among other places, living a happy life, together.

The couple, now old and grey, return to the Vampire State Building to drink their engagement champagne, both feel as if they've lived the ideal life, with Leela pointing out that she was never lonely even in a frozen universe as she had Fry.
The glimmer appears again before the couple, creating a tube-like tunnel to them and revealing to be the professor; he had been "tunnelling" his way around the frozen timeline in search of the time button, Fry gives it to him and the professor effortlessly repairs it.

The time button has been modified to send the universe back to before the professor conceived of the button so he can undo the whole affair, erasing their memory of the incident in the process. Fry asks Leela if she wants to "go around again", to which she responds "I do". Fry and Leela share their final kiss, content with the knowledge they have another wonderful lifetime together to come, and with one press of the time button the timeline is negated.
This is the fourth series finale that writer and producer Ken Keeler wrote for the show. :The following text was copied from Meanwhile (Futurama).

"Meanwhile" has received positive reviews. Max Nicholson, for IGN, wrote that "Meanwhile" was "a fitting end to a classic animated series". citation needed He gave the episode a 9 out of 10. Zack Handlen, writing for The A.V. Club, said that "the first five minutes are passable but rushed, and the hook of Fry deciding he needed to ask Leela to marry him isn't all that exciting". However, he later went on to say that "this finale settles somewhere between the "too happy" and the "oh dear God when will it end," which makes it just about perfect. It has just about everything you could want from Futurama: there's a nifty time-travel plot, Fry and Leela get married, Bender is a jackass, Zoidberg loses $10, there's a nifty time-travel plot, and Fry dies". He graded the episode an "A".

IGN named this episode #9 on their list of the top 25 Futurama episodes.
Trivia
*The episode aired on John DiMaggio's forty-fifth birthday.
*In "Forty Percent Leadbelly", which was also written by Ken Keeler, a Bender duplicate says that his audience deserves better than some crappy, formulaic ending. This may be a reference to the fact that Keeler wrote the finale.
*The episode's title caption is likely a reference to the show's second cancellation.
*The episode revisits Luna Park, from "The Series Has Landed", which was also written by Ken Keeler and directed by Peter Avanzino.
Another episode written by Ken Keeler and directed by Peter Avanzino is "The Six Million Dollar Mon".
*Bender tells Fry that he told Leela that he loved her "like 140 times". This episode is the one hundred and fortieth episode of Futurama.
*The number of seconds that the time button sends the universe into the past is the same as the amount of money that Zoidberg finds.
*The censored couple, Richard Nixon's head, Smitty and URL are the only characters besides Fry, Leela, Bender and Professor Farnsworth to appear in both this episode and the first episode, "Space Pilot 3000".
*While Fry is falling, his watch says that it's 7:03, when the time is actually 6:25. Since his watch is 38 minutes ahead, he must have done pretty close to 228 resets, three of which were the professor demonstrating the button while Fry was in the time shelter.
*Assuming that the Vampire State Building has the same height as the Empire State Building, Fry's fall from the roof would take 10.8 seconds when accounting for air drag. citation needed The remaining height after ten seconds would be 40 meters, which matches the depiction in the episode.
*The professor says "time-space continuum", but the usual term is "spacetime".
*When Fry keeps dying from the fall, after each reset he seems to retain the memory of the previous ten seconds even though Leela is pushing the button and he is dead. After his first death, he claims he had died, and subsequently explains what is happening consecutively through resets. This may be due to the special way in which Fry thinks, with the lack of the delta brainwave, which was established in "The Why of Fry". This could mean that Fry may be the only one to remember his lifelong honeymoon with Leela after the final reset.
*The woman holding the caviar resembles Nixon's campaign manager.
*This is the only time that Agnew appears without Nixon.
*When the elderly Fry and Leela observe the glimmer on top of the Vampire State Building towards the end of the episode, Leela says it's "Pretty though". At the end of "Space Pilot 3000", Smitty says the same line about the fireworks on new year's eve.
*Thanks to the professor returning himself, Fry, and Leela to before he created the button, only the first four minutes and five seconds of the episode have a chance of having actually happened.
*The first airing of the episode was immediately followed by the airing of "Space Pilot 3000". Futurama writer Patric M. Verrone initially suggested for the characters to, at the end of the episode, go back to 31 December 1999, the day on which "Space Pilot 3000" is set.
*Fry's tuxedo and Leela's wedding gown are both from previous episodes. The tuxedo is from "Calculon 2.0", and the gown is from "Time Keeps on Slippin'".
*The episode features Fry and Leela's third wedding. Their first wedding was seen in "Time Keeps on Slippin'", and their second was in Bender's Big Score; when Leela was going to marry Lars, a time-paradox duplicate of Fry.
*Leela was previously seen with grey hair in "The Late Philip J. Fry".
*The man and woman in Paris were previously seen in "Game of Tones".
Goofs
* After the clam cuts off Leela's hand, Fry takes more than ten seconds to press the button.
* In the stands at the basketball match, some characters are seen twice.
* When Fry splatters on the ground, the time button survives the fall, but when Fry lands on it, it easily breaks.

While riding a mechanical buggalo at Tex 1138's, Leela finds that she is breaking out in suction cups. She goes to the hospital and discovers that she is developing a genetic condition called squidification, a condition in which the body slowly transforms into a slithering mass of tentacles, for which there is no cure, only an extremely expensive surgery that would only delay the symptoms for a few months. Fry decides that the crew has to do everything in their power to be able to pay for the operation, so he goes to market to sell the ship. While there, Fry meets a trader who says he'll take the ship in exchange for magic beans that he says will cure any ailment. Fry makes the trade.

When he gets back to the company building, he presents the beans to the rest of the crew, only to get yelled at by the rest of the crew. Professor Farnsworth even knocks the beans out of Fry's hands, causing them to fly out the window. When Leela walks in on them, she says that she appreciates whatever they are trying to do, but claims that this is one of those rare problems with no magic solution and she leaves, again looking very depressed. The camera shows the beans outside under a dripping pipe beginning to grow into a large beanstalk.

When everyone is going home for the day, the door closes in front of her and she sees her reflection. Fry appears behind her and outs his hands on her shoulders and says that she looks sad and asks her if she wants to go to the phone store and check out the new ringtones. She says no and that it's been a weird day and that she wants to stay and think. Fry says okay and puckers his lips for a kiss. In return Leela puts one of her newly sprouted neck tentacles to his lips.

After everyone has left, Leela writes the Planet Express crew a letter telling them that she is moving down to the sewers and not to try to contact her. Before she descends down into the sewer, she sees one of the vines from the beanstalk and decides to take "the beanstalk less traveled". At the top she says it's like a fairy tale and that this a turn for the better, only to be captured by Walt, Larry, and Igner seconds later. She is put in a cage and brought to Mom. She is told that she discovered her floating genetic-engineering gacility, Momsanto (as her experiments would be illegal on earth, but her facility is above the law, literally). In the facility, Mom is trying to genetically engineer a giant beanstalk that wouldn't collapse under its own weight, but has been unsuccessful.
Leela asks to be released from the facility, but Mom says Leela's got "some freaky DNA" and wants to see what's in her genes (and at that Igner laughs).

Meanwhile, Hermes and Fry discover the collapsed remains of the beanstalk. Later, Fry talks about how much he misses Leela while holding her wristlojackimator. It's been three weeks since they've seen her and he wants to go down to the sewers and visit her. Then, the wristlojackimator gets a call from Leela's mother. She asks where Leela is, revealing to Fry that Leela is not where they thought she was. Later, while pacing around where the Planet Express ship used to be, Fry goes on about he has to find out where Leela is and he and Bender are suddenly hit in the head with Leela's boots. Fry and Bender then take a jetpack up in the sky to attempt to find Leela and find the genetic-engineering facility.

On arrival, Fry mentions how it looks like the mural on his cousin's van. Then, Leela spots them from her tower and Fry says they'll rescue and asks how to get up to the tower. To that, she replies that she'll let her hair down and they can climb up, but she actually lets down a series of tentacles. Fry comments that it's not hair but climbs up anyway, meeting Burt Ward and Adam West on the way up. When they reach the top, Leela is reluctant to reveal her entire body to them because her body had turned into a cluster of tentacles. Fry says that nothing about her body could ever shock him, but when she shows her body, he screams, but claims that it was because he was so excited to see her. Bender bends the door open and they all escape her room.

While walking through the lab, they encounter a creature with the head of an alligator and the wings of a bird causing them to enter the room covered in warning signs (where Mom claims she keeps warning signs) where they find a large giant being genetically engineered. The giant is restrained to a chair and Leela frees it. It attacks them and they hide behind the series of enlarged common objects and escape down the giant sink drain. The drain takes them to the facility's cockpit, where they meet Mom. Leela tells Mom that they will do anything to stop her from genetically engineering things and she spins the wheel of the ship, causing it to rock and plummet towards the ground. When they are close to the Planet Express building, Leela wraps one of her tentacles around the tower and she, Fry, and Bender escape Mom. They all return and Leela reveals herself to her co-workers, who are very surprised with her appearance. Dr. Zoidberg finds her beautiful.

Later, when she and Fry are alone, Leela tells him that whatever romantic relationship they have could not continue and Fry says that he wants to spend his life with her and that looks change, but she'll always be Leela, the woman he loves. They kiss and the genetic-engineering facility comes into view. Mom comes out and says that Leela helped her engineer the perfect bean. Leela stands by her opinion of genetic engineering being wrong until Mom says that she can cure her squidification with genetic engineering and she accepts the treatment. The episode ends with her and Fry holding hands while the city is being engulfed by the new beanstalk Mom produced.
Additional information
Trivia
*Amy's mother, who was featured in the first promotional picture, was replaced with a random man for the episode. It's possible that the scene originally took place at the Wong Ranch.
*The name of the doctor from "The Tip of the Zoidberg" is revealed to be Dr Tenderman.
*It is revealed that Leela occasionally lays an egg.
*In "Fry and Leela's Big Fling", Leela stated that her arm bracelet could only be removed via cutting off her arm. She takes it off without difficulty while packing her things.
*In "Yo Leela Leela", Leela tells the Cookieville orphans about a one-eyed princess who lived in a magical, one-room castle. "Yo Leela Leela" was also written by Eric Horsted.
*John DiMaggio, the voice of Bender, provides the voice of Jake in Adventure Time.

Allusions
cultural mentions
*The episode's title is a reference to the folk story "Jack and the Beanstalk".
*Many scenes reference fairytales.
*The name "Tex 1138's" is a reference to the 1971 film THX 1138, directed by Star Wars creator George Lucas.
*The way Leela uses her tentacles to swing her way up the beanstalk is reminiscent of the way Spider-Man swings amongst New York's buildings.
*The concept of a castle in the clouds may be a reference to the 1986 film Castle in the Sky. The concept of a flying castle may be a reference to the Howl's Moving Castle and 2004 Howl's Moving Castle (film).
*Momsanto is a parody of the agricultural-biotechnology corporation Monsanto, previously parodied in "The Series Has Landed", as the Monsanto Corporation.
*Leela letting her "hair" down so that Fry and Bender can climb up the tower is a reference to the German fairy tale "Rapunzel". Burt Ward also says "holy Rapunzel, Manbat".
*Adam West and Burt Ward's appearance at the window for a cameo during the vertical wall climb is a parody of the running gag in Batman where Batman and Robin would scale a wall with their bat-ropes and encounter a special celebrity looking out the window.
*Burt Ward tells Adam West that there is a duo there to rescue them, and West asks how dynamic they are. This is a reference to the term "dynamic duo", used to refer to Batman and Robin.
*After Fry and Bender find Leela in Momsanto, Bender offers to "bend the door open" to get them out. Fry tells Bender that he can't bend a wooden door, but Bender does it anyways. This is likely a reference to the gag from the BBC show Doctor Who, which has Doctor (Doctor Who)'s sonic screwdriver accessory be able to affect anything but wood.
*When Bender runs into Finn and Jake, Jake asks Bender what time it is, alluding to Adventure Time.
*In the closing scene, the camera pans out to reveal a street becoming overgrown with vines. We see a traffic light with a red stop hand, but instead of a normal hand it is the Vulcan salute for "live long and prosper", from the Star Trek series.

Continuity
*The crew wears the same clothes that their parallel counterparts from the cowboy universe wear, in "I Dated a Robot".
*The professor refers to the ship as Bessie. He named it Bessie in "2-D Blacktop".
*The salesman that Fry sells the ship to mentions the common cold. The common cold was previously mentioned in "Cold Warriors".
*Leela's seven-eighths blernsball jersey, from "A Leela of Her Own", can be seen in her locker. The chicken hat that Fry gave her, in "Fun on a Bun", is also there.
*The last time the Hyper-Chicken said "I say, I say" like Foghorn Leghorn was in Freewill Hunting.

Goofs
*After Leela is declared the winner, two of the same man can be seen clapping.
*When Fry insists that the crew must find a way to pay for Leela's operation, Hermes is seen in front of a fence where there is no place to stand. He is seen behind the fence a couple seconds later.
*Before Leela climbs the beanstalk, she has four tentacles on each side of her neck, but after she climbs the beanstalk she only has three.
*In this episode, Leela is strictly against genetic engineering, but in previous episodes citation needed she seemed to be okay with it.
**She may have changed her mind.
*In the scene where Hermes explains his plan to get his missing coworkers' money from their credit cards, the chairs' disposal changes when Fry, Bender and Leela arrive. Hermes' chair between Zoidberg and Amy disappears and a new empty chair appears next to the professor. Moments later, that same chair disappears.
The Hyper-Chicken, a simple Alien from a backwoods asteroid, is the most frequently seen lawyer in Futurama. He is a father and has often defended and prosecuted members of Planet Express crew. Despite being incompetent, he often manages to win his cases and if he doesn't, he usually tells his clients to plead insanity. He seems to be a successful lawyer and handles large cases such as the destruction of DOOP's headquarters.

Defended
*Bender of spilling dark matter on Pluto.
*Bender and Fry of robbing a bank (New New York v. Fry and Bender).
Production
The Hyper-Chicken is modelled on James Stewart (actor) Academy Award-nominated portrayal of lawyer Paul Biegler in Anatomy of a Murder. Trying a murder case in a small town, Biegler wins over the sceptical jury by repeatedly comparing himself, "a simple country lawyer", to the high-powered prosecutor, Claude Dancer (George C. Scott). The "simple country lawyer" became a model for many following portrayals, notably the entire show Matlock (TV series).

It should be noted that another lawyer on the show, Old Man Waterfall, also is modelled on James Stewart.

Trivia
*In a deleted scene, Amy once admitted to sleeping with Bender's lawyer. The scene may have been deleted because they remembered that this is his lawyer.

*The Hyper-Chicken advertises on buses, the ads simply read "ACCIDENTES! (800)λλλ-λλλλ".
*In a deleted scene on Into the Wild Green Yonder, Zapp Brannigan calls him 'Matcluck'.
* He crashed his hover car in "Proposition Infinity" when he misread Bender's graffiti, his feathers were seen flying from the wreckage. Presumably he was merely badly injured, as he reappears in a crowd scene in "The Mutants Are Revolting".
*The Hyper-Chicken has two things in common with Looney Tunes character Foghorn Leghorn: they are both human-sized roosters with southern accents and one two occasions he said "I say" after a sentence.
*The commentary for "Overclockwise" reveals that whenever the staff think they've run out of chicken puns to use for the Hyper-Chicken, the writers manage to come up with more.
*He is one of Matt Groening's least favorite characters.

Act I: "My little meatbag's growing up!"

Meanwhile, Professor Farnsworth invents a device that lets him travel 10 seconds into the past. He uses it to steal money from Zoidberg. Fry takes the time machine to steal diamonds, along with Bender.

He uses the stolen diamonds to fashion an engagement ring, which he hides in a clam. When he presents it to Leela, she reaches for the ring and the clam snaps shut, severing her hand and a bloody stump.
Amid protests from angry viewers on the White House lawn, the head of Richard Nixon and the last clone of Spiro Agnew host a three-part episode featuring the Futurama gang in parodies of popular Saturday-morning cartoons: Bendee Boo and the Mystery Crew (a Scooby-Doo parody featuring appearances by George Takei, Larry Bird, and the Harlem Globetrotters), Purpleberry Pond (a Strawberry Shortcake-meets-The Smurfs mash-up that was only created to plug its super-sugary cereal), and G.I. Zapp (a G.I. Joe parody that Nixon tries to edit for violence himself).
On 11 December, with the release of Volume 7 and its commentary for "Naturama", it was revealed that the episode would be directed by Crystal Chesney-Thompson.
The Countdown to Futurama posts from 19 May and 20 May, revealed the title of the Strawberry Shortcake-esque segment to be "Purpleberry Pond" and the title of the Scooby-Doo-esque segment to be "Bendy Boo", respectively. *During the Bendee Boo intro, the crew runs from someone on a motorcycle. Also running from the motorcycle is who appears to be former U.S. president Jimmy Carter.
cultural mentions
*The Futurama and Friends Saturday Morning Fun Pit title card features a stylized version of the pattern of blue lights that appear in the opening sequence.
*In the Bendee Boo segment, the crew members are re-imagined as Scooby-Doo characters. Fry plays the role of Shaggy Rogers, Leela plays the role of Daphne Blake, Bender plays the role of Scooby-Doo (character), Hermes plays the role of Fred Jones (Scooby-Doo), and Amy plays the role of Velma Dinkley.
**Billy West, who voices Fry, provided the voice of Shaggy in the 1998 film Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island.
**The Harlem Globetrotters appear, just like they did in the T.V. show The New Scooby-Doo Movies, and the shot of them sleeping in the same bed is taken from their appearance.
*One of the protesters outside of the White House holds a sign which reads "Animation Dumb-a-nation", a reference to the Sunday-evening animated-programming block airing on Fox, Animation Domination, which was created in 2009 and includes The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad!, The Cleveland Show (canceled in 2013), and Bob's Burgers.
*The professor's character in the Purpleberry Pond segment is a parody of the , from Strawberry Shortcake.
*Micky is a parody of Little Mikey, from Life (cereal) cereal's 1970s "Mikey Likes It" ads.
*Fry's name in the G.I. Zapp segment is Freezer Burn, a reference to the fact that he was frozen at the beginning of the show 1ACV01 and has been frozen multiple times since .
*Nixon renames the Leela character in G.I. Zapp as Pat. This is a reference to Nixon's wife, Pat Nixon.
*At the end of the episode, the announcer says "Now stay tuned for six hours of golf", angering Agnew. This is a reference to how Saturday-morning cartoon line-ups in the 1980s and 1990s always aired sports telecasts after the last cartoon, and to Spiro Agnew's bad golf playing, which would cause him to accidentally hit spectators with his golf ball.

Continuity
*The professor also kept lengths of wire in "Space Pilot 3000".
*George Takei's ancestry was previously referred to in "Where No Fan Has Gone Before".

Goofs
*Although the professor's cloning machine is shown being turned on, every other shot of it (especially while it is actively cloning) depicts the switch pointing at "off".
**This may be intentional, and just parodying the cheap production values of Scooby-Doo.
*Scratches and visible edge lines on the animation "cel" are added as a parody of said cheap production values (Futurama is animated digitally, such effects would never occur normally).
Trivia
* Fry was also stuck on an inclined table in "Cold Warriors", which also featured Fry's family. In addition, the digits in the production code for "Cold Warriors" add up to the same amount as the digits in the production code for this episode.
* The episode shares multiple similarities with the 1986 film Star Trek Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. A mysterious ship arrives, sending a strange melody to communicate, which, however, damages the planet, and the main characters have to travel back in time (in this episode through dreams).
* The song that plays at the end of the episode is "Manchild", by the Eels (band), from the 1996 album Beautiful Freak.
* Seymour sitting on the couch along with the rest of the Fry family and holding a martini is a reference to Family Guys Brian Griffin, who is also voiced by Seth MacFarlane.
* The scene where the crew communicates with the alien ship via sound and lights on a billboard is reminiscent of the climax from the 1977 film Close Encounters of the Third Kind. A location similar to Devils Tower is also seen in the background.
*Nibbler says bye-bye keys which a toddler Bart Simpson says in Lisa's First Word of The Simpsons.

Continuity
* Bender's "let's go already" song is from "Proposition Infinity".
* Bender previously wore a diaper in "The Tip of the Zoidberg".
* Fry and the rest of the crew revisit "Space Pilot 3000".
* Nibbler tells Fry that he has once more done the Nibblonians a great service. This is a reference to "The Day the Earth Stood Stupid" and "The Why of Fry", in which Fry saves the world and the universe, respectively.

Goofs
* Fry's alarm clock reads "09:01" thirty seconds after turning to nine o'clock.
"Saturday Morning Fun Pit" is the one hundred and thirty-third episode of Futurama, the nineteenth of the seventh production season, the sixth of the tenth broadcast season, and the sixth segmented episode. It aired on 17 July, 2013, on Comedy Central. The Futurama gang stars in a trio of craptastic morning cartoons.

Story

Production
On 2 September, 2012, it was revealed that the Scooby-Doo-esque segment of the episode would guest-star George Takei and Larry Bird.

On 11 December, with the release of Volume 7 and its commentary for "Naturama", it was revealed that the episode would be directed by Crystal Chesney-Thompson.

The Countdown to Futurama posts from 19 May and 20 May, 2013, revealed the title of the Strawberry Shortcake-esque segment to be "Purpleberry Pond" and the title of the Scooby-Doo-esque segment to be "Bendy Boo", respectively. However, the Scooby-Doo-esque segment is actually called "Bendee Boo and the Mystery Crew".

By 9 July, the animatic for the Strawberry Shortcake segment had been released online.
Trivia
*At one point, the episode's production number was planned to be 7ACV25.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.comedycentral.com/episodes/1w3i9s/futurama-futurama-live--season-7-ep-special|title=Futurama Live! - Episode - Season 7 - Ep. *This is the only segmented episode of the second run to not be a broadcast-season finale.
*During the Bendee Boo intro, the crew runs from someone on a motorcycle. Also running from the motorcycle is who appears to be former U.S. president Jimmy Carter.

Allusions
cultural mentions

The Brain Spawn are a race of big, flying brains who travel from planet to planet and destroy all sentient thought, which they hate, eventually eliminating the planet in question. They came into being milliseconds after the Big Bang. They have been at war with the Nibblonians ever since. The ultimate goal of the Brain Spawn is to gather all the knowledge in the universe. This ultimately leads to the construction of the Infosphere. Once all information in the known universe is collected, the Brain Spawn intended to destroy the universe, to ensure that no new information would be created. The Brain Spawn cannot see; they only can detect the Delta Brain Waves of a sentient being. Their chief combat ability is to send out a stupefication field that eradicates all intelligence within the blast radius--presumably the field attacks the Delta Brain Wave itself. This makes Philip J. Fry the ultimate champion against the Brain Spawn, as he lacks the Delta Brain Wave and therefore can neither be seen nor fought by them.
The Brain Spawn hate conscious thought for several reasons, among which is the fact that thought by others than themselves hurts them. This is one of their few weaknesses.

The Brain Spawn have three apparent classes:
*Small Brains: Foot soldiers of a sort, but have huge numbers. Capable of stupefying an entire planet in a matter of hours.
*Big Brains: A sort of "General", more intelligent, capable of speech, and can trap beings in fictional worlds created from books.
*Huge Brain: Only one ever seen, capable of firing a beam that can instantly kill large dinosaurs.
Trivia
*Fry appears to be referring to the Brain Spawn when talking to Michelle in "The Cryonic Woman"; as he had not actually met them yet, this was probably in reference to something else, such as the Spheroids.
*Some planets destroyed by the Brain Spawn are Space Rome, Don Martin 3, and Tweenis 12.
*The Brain Spawn are responsible for the destruction of the dinosaurs.
*Dwight Conrad, Chinese Boy and Indian Boy dress as Brain Spawns during the costume contest at Comic-Con Intergalactic in 3010.(6ACV11)
*It is unknown why the Brain Spawn are in the form of human brains, having come into being billions of years before the humans.
*As of yet, the Brain Spawn are currently the first known alien race to make contact with Earth (but not with humans).
* Their plan to learn information from different worlds and destroy them is similar to Brainac's motives from the DC Comics.
