Inara Serra was a character played by Morena Baccarin on the short-lived cult television series Firefly and the movie Serenity. She was a Companion — a socially respectable prostitute/geisha — who traveled the known Universe, known in Firefly as "the 'verse", aboard the ship Serenity with its crew. In Futurama, the character had a cameo as one of the head jars in the Head Museum (6ACV23).
The inclusion of Inara Serra's name, rather than that of Baccarin, may suggest that the events of Firefly (in the 26th century) may have occurred in the Futurama timeline as well.
