Like its predecessor, the Simpsons, Futurama's writers and voice actors are constantly inventing new words.

Overview

The words said on Futurama don't always exist in a standard dictionary. Several words have been invented by the writers and ad-libbed by the actors, creating new words and terminology for us:

A

Aks
inquire, question; derived from the old english "ask." Ironically, this is actually a step backwards, as "axe" was the original pronunciation. Alternate spelling: Ax

F

Frontbutt
How Hermes refers to his posterior after his head is replaced backwards. The creators expressed in the commentary that they expect the phrase "Kiss my frontbutt" to catch on.

G

Gentacles
A new word used for multipled groins. Used from "genatles".
Coined by: Turanga Leela (The Beast with a Billion Backs)

H

Hibernative Naptosis
This appears to simply be a term for sleeping, no special equipment appears to be involed. It, as sleeping does, minimises oxygen use by lifeforms.

I

Intragnizent
From the context in which it was used, this word probably means unwilling to bow to pressure (of union strikes)
Coined by: Joey Mousepad (3ACV06)

M

Male Jelly
A substance excreted by Decapodian males to fertilize eggs left by the females.
Meatbag
A term referring to Humans (or organic creatures in general), may be a racial slur.

Mell out
A phrase meaning chill out. A shortened form of "mellow out".

Murderology

Murderonomy
A collection of the established laws or knowledge pertaining to murder.

R

Rage Dump
An expression meaning that someone needs to either vent their frustrations or possibly relax. "Take a rage dump" may be analogous to "chill out".

S

Science-Fictiony
Of or relating to science-fiction.
Coined by: David X. Cohen, when explaining why he chose an "X" as his new middle initial.

Smizmar
A gender other than male or female.
The love partner of an Amphibiosan who gave it the ability to reproduce by someone touching his/her hand.
