H. G. Blob is a good-natured person, unless he is upset about something (such as problems at work or a sad movie). Then he is prone to violence at the slightest provocation. This usually ends with him swallowing the offending party. He worked at a plant, which introduced computers in 3002, a few months later he was seen working as a stockbroker. He, along his family live on the rings of an unidentified planet which might be Venus.

He seems to have worked for an ad agency for a time (or as an actor for commercials) as he appeared in a commercial for Planet Express. (1ACV02) However, it is unlikely that he met anyone at Planet Express directly, as he doesn't seem to recognize Hermes Conrad or Professor Farnsworth before, during, or after beating them to a pulp. (3ACV12) Later, the bad influence of Bender to Brett makes him join the Fathers Against Rude Television.

Trivia

  • "Love and Rocket" briefly showed a painting of a female of this species called the Venus de Venus, a play on the Venus de Milo which means Venus originating from Milo (an island in the Aegean Sea). This suggests that the species originates from Venus or that the painting does.
  • His initials may be a reference to science fiction author H.G. Wells.
  • In The Beast with a Billion Backs, he screams "It's horrible!" after seeing Yivo. Since his first name is Horrible, it looks as if he may be trying to get attention.
