Indy 500
The Indy 500 is a major sporting event which started off life as an automobile race - known as the Indianapolis 500-mile race, which first ran in 1911 and was traditionally ran in the final weekend of May. It is unclear what changes to the event's format have occurred in the thousand years since its inaugural running, though drastic changes would have occurred some time before the 31st century, given that mankind had taken to using hover cars and had largely forgotten what a wheel looked like.[1]
The running of the 3011 race was marred by disaster following the transformation of Earth's water into booze by atom-sized duplicates of Bender B. Rodriguez. The competitors started the race seemingly all inebriated. There were no survivors.[2]
