This article is about the trivia, the quotes, the references, etc. appearing in The Beast with a Billion Backs. It does not, however, include DVD information, character listings and cast information.

It is a separate article due to the fact that the amount of information to deal with in a trivia manner is huge when compared to a regular episode.

General Trivia

  • The title is a reference to Shakespeare's line "I am one, sir, that comes to tell you your daughter and the Moor are now making the beast with two backs." in the play Othello (however, use of the phrase dates back before this usage). In "Spanish Fry", the sex shop in which Fry, Bender and Leela enter is called "The Beast with Two Bucks", which is a reference to the same line.
  • It also references, The Beast With a Million Eyes. Incidentally plot of that movie involves a huge alien mind controlling the weak minded, albeit to fuel hatred rather than coerce the world into having sex with it. The movie came out in 1955, and the box art for The Beast With a Billion Backs is modeled after 1950's horror movies involving monsters.
  • A sneak peek was included in a two disc DVD of Bender's Big Score exclusive to Best Buy.
  • The official trailer (in colour) has been released and can be watched at slurmed.com.
  • Fry called DIAL-A-JOKE from Colleen's Apartment a total of 8128 times.
  • The end credits show the actor's name, together with an array of pictures of the characters they voiced. This is similar to The Simpsons Movie.
  • The video track used for the movie is only greater in length than the track used in Bender's Big Score by one second (although is is probably a wild coincidence).
  • This is the first time in the series that the Globetrotter Homeworld is seen.
  • Although we are to presume that all inhabitants of earth other than the robots were genticled by Yivo, we do not see any attached to heads inside of jars, or the sewer mutants.
    • In fact, while most of the previous species seen in Futurama make an appearance in this film, the Sewer Mutants (apart from Leela) do not appear in the film.
  • Noticibly, Yivo was able to "mate" with Decapodians without causing them to suffer gruesome death.
  • In real life, the golden escalators, at the speed they went, would take 100's of 1000's of years, if not millions, to carry the residents of Earth (the ones closest to the anomaly) to Yivo's location.
  • This is the first time in the series that we ever see Morbo in any sort of frightened state.
  • Yivo apparently gave every being in universe A/universe gamma "the clap", except Leela.
  • If lab animals were stored in a 55 gallon drum like in the film, they would suffocate and (unless eating the other lab animals) starve, perhaps the one Wernstrom used is a life preserving one.
  • In the vacuum of space, Kif manages not only to breath, but to speak to Fry. Both of this things are impossible as there is no air to breath or transmit the sound.

Allusions

  • Red Minataur, alludes to Red Bull, an existing energy drink.
  • Normal Kombat is a reference to Mortal Kombat.
  • Honkey Kong is a reference to Donkey Kong.
  • Ms. Marple Madness is a reference to both Ms. Marple and Marble Madness.

Continuity

  • Steve Castle can be seen towards the beginning of Yivo's invasion, despite having presumably died of Bone-itus. This may not be a goof however, as we may presume that he was revived, cloned, or that it's his descendant.

Goofs

Notice Europe on the left, and the Americas on the right.
  • When the Earth's protection is being built, the Earth is mirrored.
  • Due to the nature of the Anomaly, machinery and/or metals cannot pass through it. However, when Fry travels through the Anomaly for the first time, his space suit neither causes a reaction nor is it destroyed by it; his suit is clearly mechanical.
  • Hedonismbot's mouth changes throughout the movie from just showing his "teeth" to showing his "teeth" and two lines across them like Bender.
  • Twice in the movie, the unnamed British robot changes from brown to grey. Although this may have been a trick of the light.
  • At the end, Fry calls Yivo "he" instead of "shcle"
  • In the space battle scene, Yivo had supposedly already invaded both Mars and Decapod 10, but yet we don't see the tentacles stretching anywhere near that far.
    • One plausible explanation for this, is that there are several anamolies throughout the universe, although this is not so much as hinted at in the film.
  • Amy asserts that Kif tried to kill Yivo, despite Yivo not being particularly known about until after Kif's funeral. Although we can attribute this to Amy being a ditz, it was not an intentional error.
