By the year 3010, Pine Trees(Pinus xmas) have been extinct for eight hundred years. They became extinct during the Fifty-Year Squirts when they were all chopped down to make toilet paper. However, their seeds have been kept preserved in the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. In a non-canon segment, pine trees were brought back from extinction by the crew. However, they had been mutated by a virus from the Germ Warfare Repository and eventually covered the Earth in forests. Due to all the oxygen they created, the atmosphere burned up when Bender lit a cigar.
