By the year 3010, pine trees (Pinus xmas) have been extinct for eight hundred years. They became extinct during the Fifty-Year Squirts when they were all chopped down to make toilet paper. However, their seeds have been kept preserved in the Svalbard Global Seed Vault.

During Xmas 3010, pine trees were brought back from extinction by the Planet Express crew. However, they had been mutated by a virus from the Germ Warfare Repository and eventually covered Earth in forests. Due to all the oxygen they created, the atmosphere burned up when Bender lit a cigar.

Trivia
