Sally is an orphan at Cookieville Minimum-Security Orphanarium. She is easily recognised due to a birth defection resulting in an ear on her forehead. This is something the other orphans often teased her with, earning her the name "Ear-face". In addition to the extra ear, she also claims to have a tail. These defects may suggest Sally is a sewer mutant who, like Leela, was given a better life.
When Leela and Adlai Atkins were looking to adopt one of the children, Leela wanted Sally, because she could sympathise with Sally's position among the other orphans - a position she was in herself during her time at the orphanarium. Adlai, however, was not entirely keen on the idea, but suggested an operation to make her acceptable. Leela, however, was not at all pleased with this proposal, and gave Adlai an ultimatum. As a result of this, Leela returned to her regular Cyclops look.
