Wouldn't it be cool having an article every week or fortnight with a Main Page spotlight? Taking a random, okay article and push people to try to make it perfect? Best case scenario, it's standard to have that article be featured a few weeks later. What say you? - akitalk 15:16, 15 June 2011 (CEST)

Wikipedia has a number of collaborations where an article is nominated and the community works to improve it. I can't see why we couldn't do one per week. -- DeepSpaceHomer 15:37, 15 June 2011 (CEST)
Agreed. <joe>LET'S DO IT!!!</joe> - akitalk 19:01, 15 June 2011 (CEST)
Infosphere:Spotlight article now exists. As a first article I choose Lord Nibbler, because I have been trying to make it perfect myself for the past few days. So, well, basically, it has a chance of being awesome by the end of the week, which would make up for a great start. :) Any suggestions of future spotlight articles? - akitalk 19:31, 15 June 2011 (CEST)
How about Calculon? It could use some refinement seeing as the quotes section is a lot longer than like, the rest of the article. -- DeepSpaceHomer 19:37, 15 June 2011 (CEST)
Ah, yes, the Calculon article would certainly need some work. Approved! Any more suggestions now that we're on it?
Btw, I made a template to have on the top of the current spotlight article. Check the top of Lord Nibbler. - akitalk 19:41, 15 June 2011 (CEST)
What about Dwight Conrad? - akitalk 19:55, 15 June 2011 (CEST)
That's a good one. I'll nominate Hutch Waterfall. -- DeepSpaceHomer 19:57, 15 June 2011 (CEST)
Ah, good one. I didn't realise it was so small an article. Added. Now we're stored up until week 28! - akitalk 20:00, 15 June 2011 (CEST
What about Cornwood? It's the only article remaining on the potential candidates list. Teyrn of Highever 01:41, 16 June 2011 (CEST)
Added. - akitalk 02:25, 16 June 2011 (CEST)
This is a great idea! This way, we can nominate pages that are out of date or stubby, and they can become awesome! --Buddy 00:15, 16 June 2011 (CEST)
Yay! People agree with me! - akitalk 01:24, 16 June 2011 (CEST)

What about URL? It's really small and messy, and it would be nice to have it clean before the release of "Law and Oracle". - akitalk 16:07, 16 June 2011 (CEST)

My parents used to tell me the exact same thing about my room. Let's add it. -- DeepSpaceHomer 16:21, 16 June 2011 (CEST)
Leela's article. While not short, it is underdeveloped for a major character. Teyrn of Highever 19:21, 16 June 2011 (CEST)
Sounds excellent. Most of the primary articles unfortunately are. - akitalk 20:32, 16 June 2011 (CEST)
If we are going to do URL, we might as well do Smitty at or near the same time. Teyrn of Highever 15:27, 19 June 2011 (CEST)

So how are people supposed to know which article has a spotlight? Is there supposed to be something on the main page that hasn't been implemented yet or am I just missing something? Teyrn of Highever 00:52, 19 June 2011 (CEST)

I experimented somewhat on that, but couldn't find a good way. In short, it should be mentioned on the main page but it isn't yet. It shouldn't really outshine the featured article. Do you have any ideas of design? - akitalk 01:07, 19 June 2011 (CEST)
Not really. I'm not the person to ask about design; I'm more of the mindless repetitive tasks person. Teyrn of Highever 01:29, 19 June 2011 (CEST)
I see. I might get onto it tonight or tomorrow, but not right now. If someone else wants to, they can do it. - akitalk 13:45, 19 June 2011 (CEST)
Maybe DeepSpace has some ideas. Teyrn of Highever 15:26, 19 June 2011 (CEST)
Well, the only thing I can think is move the Featured Article above "Upcoming episode", and place "Spotlight" right under the FA. At least from a design perspective, it would focus the attention on the idea of the Infosphere as a database by making the FA and the Spotlight more prominent. And anyone who is just coming here to find out the next episode shouldn't have any problem scrolling a little bit. -- DeepSpaceHomer 16:17, 19 June 2011 (CEST)
What say you guys of this example? - akitalk 16:55, 19 June 2011 (CEST)
I like it. -- DeepSpaceHomer 17:03, 19 June 2011 (CEST)
Um, isn't "week's" misspelled? Teyrn of Highever 17:13, 19 June 2011 (CEST)
