Yancy Fry Sr. is the father of Philip J. Fry who lived in a completely trashed house somewhere in Flatbush, Brooklyn. He was a Vietnam veteran and spent most of his time building a nuclear bomb shelter for fear of a communist attack. His worries about the Y2K computer bug made him believe it was the cause of Philip's disappearance. Yancy Fry Sr. and Mrs. Fry didn't care about their son and thought sending him to school was a waste of tax money and didn’t bother much looking for him when he was frozen in December of 1999. According to Fry, his father was fired from McDonald's (1ACV12).

Quotes

Guenter: [Crying:] I try so hard to fit in, but seeing my parents act like that made me realise I'm just a primitive beast. [He sobs.]
Fry: Hey, hey, cheer up. Not everyone turns out like their parents. I mean, look at me. My folks were honest, hard-working people.

Bender: Okay, everyone. Come and get it! [He opens his door. He has turned his chest cabinet into a grill and there are four cooked burgers on a wire rack. He takes one out and puts it in a bun and hands it to Fry.]
Fry: [He takes a bite.] Ah, just like my dad used to make... Until McDonald's fired him.

Fry: Hey, tell me something: You've got all this money, how come you always dress like you're doing your laundry?
Amy: I guess 'cause my parents keep telling me to be more ladylike. [She scoffs.] As though!
Fry: I've been there. My folks were always on me to groom myself and wear underpants. What am I, the Pope?

Yancy Fry Sr.: So what should we name him?
Mrs. Fry: You pick, I picked dinner last night.
Yancy Fry Sr.: Well, I was thinking of Philip after those screwdrivers.
