Futurella is (presumably) an animated television series created by Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons, and David X. Cohen, also a writer for The Simpsons. Set in the year 4000, it was introduced at the Intergalactic Comic-Con in August of 3010 and was immediately cancelled by Fox even before being aired on TV. Some of the other known crewmembers included Crystal Chesney-Thompson, probably as a director, and Patric M. Verrone, probably as a writer.
Additional Info
Trivia
- Futurella is a parody of Futurama itself.
- The immediate cancellation of Futurella was a reference to Futurama being cancelled by the Fox Network, which would lead to it being on Comedy Central.
Quotes
Matt Groening's head: So, anyway, we're really excited to show you guys the pilot for our new TV series.
David X. Cohen's head: It's set in the year 4000, and we call it Futurella!
[The audience turns on their video-phones as the pilot starts. The credits begin but before the title can even get off the screens, a buzzer sounds and the screens go black as the word "cancelled" appears.]
Matt Groening's head: Wow. Fox has really streamlined the process.
