While renting videos a at a video store, Fry finds out that ''Star Trek'' was banned as it was once a major religion, and all tapes were sent to the planet [[Omega 3]]. Fry convinces Leonard Nimoy's head to find the other cast members on Omega 3. After crashing on Omega 3, Nimoy finds his cast mates, and [[Welshie]], a new member. Melllvar, a galactic entity, was explained to keep the actors alive and well, and kept all the artifacts from the series. But when Mellvar realises that the PE crew were trying to save the ''Star Trek'' actors, Melllvar puts them into armed combat to the death. Soon after, the PE crew and the actors decide to use the PE ship and the Enterprise's engines to escape, but the ship gets too heavy, and they cut off the heads of the ''Star Trek'' actors. Unfortunately, Melllvar has a space ship, too (in mint condition). Then, Leela spots the Nimbus, and Zapp takes them under arrest, starting the case.

The DOOP v. Fry, Bender and Leela case was a trial lead by Zapp Brannigan on board the Planet Express Ship. Fry, Bender and Leela were charged for traveling to the forbidden planet Omega 3. Heads of the cast of the original Star Trek: William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, Walter Koenig, Nichelle Nichols, George Takei, Fry, Bender, and Leela were witnesses in the trail. The case had not reached a verdict because they had to stop to continue fighting Melllvar.

Background

Further information: Where No Fan Has Gone Before

During the 23rd century, Star Trek fandom had become a full blown religion, nation and nation fall to its influence during the Star Trek wars (not to be confused with the Star Wars trek, which was the vast migration of Star Wars fans).

To end the wars, Star Trek was forever scoured from human memory by sending it to the planet Omega 3, which was then permitted forbidden to travel to by the Earth government and possibly DOOP. Upon the planet, the energy being, Melllvar dwelt and watched the episodes. When the original Star Trek cast decided that they weren't welcome on Earth, they decided to leave, with the exception of Leonard Nimoy, who stayed behind because he had just signed a new 6-month contract on his apartment.

While travelling to Welshie's cousin's house, the original Star Trek crashed on Omega 3 where Melllvar granted them eternal youth and bodies.

Back on Earth, in 3002, Philip J. Fry was unfamiliar with Star Trek being forbidden, and thus, unaware of the consequences, uttered its name in a video store, where he soon learns what the show has been banned. In an attempt to release the ban, he gets Bender Rodríguez, Turanga Leela and Leonard Nimoy to join him in his quest.

Upon Omega 3, they too crash land and find the original Star Trek cast which have been living their for an unknown period of time. When Melllwar realises that the Planet Express crew are a real crew of space heroes and the Star Trek cast is just a bunch of actors, he puts them against each other in a fight to the death. However, when Melllvar's mum comes around and calls Melllvar for dinner, they all work together and leave Omega 3.

However, as they are leaving Omega 3 space, they run into Nimbus piloted by Zapp Brannigan, who decides the board the Planet Express Ship and starts the court marshal.
