Janet was Fry's girlfriend in the storyboard for "Space Pilot 3000". When the biographic projector was on, Fry's memory of Janet was brought up. Janet was upset at Fry for working on New Year's Eve 1999; however, she did not express much enthusiasm about the year 2000 except for that it was famous sounding. She seemingly breaks up with Fry after he disparages the year 2000. Later on, after Fry had escaped from Leela's attempts to install his career chip, Fry remembered a happy time when he and Janet were ice skating at Rockefeller Center and it made him realize that everyone he ever knew was gone.

Additional info

  • Janet was replaced as Fry's girlfriend by Michelle. Michelle, too, would break up with Fry (1ACV01).
  • Janet is drawn in two different styles in the storyboard; in Act I, she has short hair with a jagged hairline, and a surly disposition, whereas in Act III, when Fry is remembering his time ice skating with Janet, she looks identical to Michelle in that same scene in the final episode.
  • Janet shoves a noisemaker in Fry's mouth after he dismisses the New Year. This would have explained where Fry got the noisemaker he blew in Applied Cryogenics.

Janet: You can't deliver pizzas on New Year's Eve! It's gonna be the year 2000. That's one of the most famous sounding years in history.
Fry: Eh, it's just a buncha zeroes.
Janet: You're a buncha zeroes. [She shoves a roll-out noisemaker into his mouth, and turns to go. She walks out the door and slams it shut.]
