Discussion

So, you may have noticed that recently, several spambots have creating accounts and then making a spam page with that very same name. After noticing they used 'buy' in all their usernames, I blocked that. But now they are just doing it with IP edits.

No, I am not intending to block IP edits, I am intending to ditch the whole username blacklist and use a new "title blacklist", which can blacklist both page titles and username titles (Wikipedia's page is here): http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Title_Blacklist_extension. It is possible to allow certain users (such as "autoconfirmed") to create these pages, but not anyone else.

Unfortunately, I cannot get this fixed at my current position. So it'll probably be a day or two. Hopefully less, but still, just giving you a heads up. --SvipTalk 09:33, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
