Talk:Three Hundred Big Boys
Where was El Chupanibre? Buddy13 10:02, 1 August 2006 (PDT)
- A scene with Leg Mutant running away from him, both characters are listed, this was between Bender getting the cigar and Smitty and Url watching the footage.
Also, in relation to *this* do these headings match the US box? I know the Australian one is different. Whaler's userpage says he's German so they may have different headings there (which would make the headings correct, but rediculously long). - Quolnok 02:45, 2 August 2006 (PDT)
Someone first said that 100 cups of coffee was a lethal dose. Then someone modified it to the version below:
- The average cup of coffee contains 85 mg of caffiene. A lethal dose for a 175-pound (79.3-kilogram) man is about 3 grams of caffiene. 35 cups of coffee would be lethal to most humans. It's possible that Fry was drinking decaf and experiencing a placebo enlightenment, however, it seems more likely that, as Fry was drinking the coffee over a period of one or two days, he didn't get poisoned as his metabolism must have used up some of the caffeine.
Ish. It's been modified a bit, to rationalize why Fry didn't die. But now I've recieved the following email:
regarding http://futurama.overt-ops.com/index.php?title=Three_Hundred_Big_Boys#Trivia (lethal dose of coffe), you are right, it's 3g - intravenously. Orally, it's about 10g which is about 100 cups (search the web for LD_50 of caffeine).
Please change it again, thanks for taking the time.
I don't know, but I'm assuming that was from the same person who wrote the first version of the trivia (it was an anonymous IP). I've moved the trivia here so we can discuss it, and maybe do a little research to confirm it one way or the other. Please discuss it here (and not edit the article repeatedly), and cite sources if you have any. Buddy13 12:07, 12 August 2006 (PDT)
Yeah, I was the one with the anonymous IP. My source originally was http://www.cs.uwaterloo.ca/~alopez-o/Coffee/caffaq.html#WhatHappens. Like every medicine, it varies, that's why I wrote "generally". Since the internet is not about facts but to generate a lot of written noise, I'd like to hear some official word about this, either, but, it seems, people taking in 250 cups still survived and I'm not willing to try it out myself :D User:AlienMind/sig
