The other way is better, it is easier to type several tildes than a username and there's the matter of the article templates that won't have it correct now... if anyone else ever uses them. - Quolnok 11:38, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Date
I propose the addition of a date field to the template. There is a 4 day limit, but only users who use the templates will know that. A casual user won't edit a page with a working template on it, and won't even know (or sometimes bother to check) when the template was added. I suggest the simple addition of a date, rather than a more verbose option like "as of DATE (if four days have passed since this date, remove this template and go about your business)" because then the template becomes clunky and unwieldy. But it definitely needs to be more clear to casual users that they can probably safely edit a page that's had a working template on it for nearly three months (like one I just removed) --Buddy 05:53, 7 August 2011 (CEST)
- Sounds good. There's two options:
- Update the template and force people to start entering {{working|USERNAME|~~~~~}}
- Get the bot to do it.
- Personally I'd vote to go back to {{working|~~~|~~~~~}} rather than manually entering the username. - Quolnok 06:46, 7 August 2011 (CEST)
