The Invisible Mon was first seen in a video released by Countdown to Futurama on 12 June 2012.

The Invisible Mon is a reference to the H. G. Wells science fiction novella The Invisible Man and the fact that Hermes pronounces "man" as "mon". The same pun is made in the title of the episode which introduced it.
