The Muppets are a group of puppet characters created by Jim Henson. Futurama has parodied them four times.
The Muppets in Futurama
- In 3009, Planet Express went out of business because its Tickle Me Bender dolls, a reference to a children's toy based on the Muppet Elmo, did not sell well (5ACV15) and Fry turned into a Muppet (US#044).
- In 3010, Kif read a book entitled It's not Easy being Green, a reference to a song played by the Muppet Kermit the Frog (US#051).
- In 3011, the Planet Express crew encountered Tickle Me Elmo's fire, another reference to the children's toy based on the Muppet Elmo, on its voyage through the Bermuda Tetrahedron (6ACV15).
