The Muppets are a group of puppet characters created by Jim Henson. Futurama has parodied them five times. Warner Bros.

- The amazonian Thog is also the name of a full-bodied Muppet which appeared in the theme song of the Muppet show
- In 3009, Planet Express went out of business because its Tickle Me Bender dolls, a reference to a children's toy based on the Muppet Elmo, did not sell well (5ACV15) and Fry turned into a Muppet (US#044).
- In 3010, Kif read a book entitled It's not Easy being Green, a reference to a song played by the Muppet Kermit the Frog (US#051).
- In 3011, the Planet Express crew encountered Tickle Me Elmo's fire, another reference to the children's toy based on the Muppet Elmo, on its voyage through the Bermuda Tetrahedron (6ACV15) and Fry had Muppet gangrene and said "It's not easy being gangrenous", another reference to the song played by the Muppet Kermit the Frog (6ACV18).
