The Muppets
The Muppets are a group of puppet characters created by Jim Henson. Futurama has parodied them four times.
The Muppets in Futurama
- In 3009, Planet Express went out of business because its Tickle Me Bender dolls, a reference to a children's toy based on the Muppet Elmo, did not sell well (5ACV15) and Fry turned into a Muppet (US#044).
- In 3010, Kif read a book entitled It's not Easy being Green, a reference to a song played by the Muppet Kermit the Frog (US#051).
- In 3011, the Planet Express crew encountered Tickle Me Elmo's fire, another reference to the children's toy based on the Muppet Elmo, on its voyage through the Bermuda Tetrahedron (6ACV15) and Fry had Muppet gangere.
