Hey, The Scary Door finally made the cut while I was MIA? Excellent, those were one of my favorite bits from the series and I put a bit of work into getting that article started. User:Gopher/sig Gopher 20:06, 19 April 2007 (PDT)

Quolnok's Picks?

I think Quolnok is the only one keeping this section alive. I wish we had more members to nominate and vote for things, but we're sadly stagnant in that department. Thanks, Quolnok for working on this area when you can. --Buddy 19:37, 22 November 2007 (PST)

Yeah, it would be nice to have more nominators and voters. I'm glad we're only doing this monthly. - Quolnok 19:49, 22 November 2007 (PST)

weekly?

anyone reckon we should do this weekly? I think it would be a good idea if we did.--I'm Scruffy... the Janitor. 03:17, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm thinking not. I much prefer the fortnightly format, especially given the infrequent nominations (although certainly more than three years ago). In fact, I've actually been considering reducing the frequency again. - Quolnok 03:24, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

new featured article

Why hasn't there been a new featured article in like a month? It's getting kinda boring looking at BWABB all the tme and Season 6 could definitely be there now. --I'm Scruffy... the Janitor. 08:12, 16 August 2010 (CEST)

sorry if I sound like a prat, Quolnok probably has been going on with Real Life. --I'm Scruffy... the Janitor. 08:13, 16 August 2010 (CEST)
Okay, this is it, I'm going all Hitler on your asses and add a new featured article. Aki 19:48, 29 August 2010 (CEST)
Finally, a new featured article. You made the right call, Aki. Although I would have preferred the Season 6 article. Well, but it's my own fault. WHY DIDN'T I VOTE?? Fan Futurama 20:10, 29 August 2010 (CEST)
I know, me too, but it wasn't good enough, there were too many "update" and not enough material. If you fix it it can be there next time? :) Aki 20:12, 29 August 2010 (CEST)
The problem with the Season 6 article is that it could be so much better. It's a shame to feature it before it gets to that point. But one of the prevailing arguments remain that we simply doesn't know the entire season. We have only seen about half of it. --Sviptalk 20:26, 29 August 2010 (CEST)
Challenge accepted. From now on, I'm going to update the article as much as I can. I really think it's the kind of article that should be on the main page. But I agree with Svip. It should only be featured when all the episodes are aired. Fan Futurama 21:21, 29 August 2010 (CEST)
Awesome. Awesome to the max. Having the article go up there ready and perfect when the time comes is... awesome. Aki 23:07, 29 August 2010 (CEST)
TO THE MAX. Fan Futurama 23:47, 29 August 2010 (CEST)
Hi all. Things keep taking my free time, but I'm glad something new was finally put there. I've been trying to get caught up with looking at the new edits, I'm around a week behind, but I should probably consider stopping that now that we're oh so very active. I also wasn't overly thrilled with the quality of the season six article and wanted to hold out on it but also wasn't thrilled by the next option in the list (although it is better now). I'd also been going to implement a defaulting system to shove old features on the main page when I forget to update, but like everything else I just haven't got around to it. Also fortnight 17 ends today, so I've made it 18's feature too. - Quolnok 00:43, 30 August 2010 (CEST)
Oh, great. Activity is always nice from everyone, especially such a big contributor as you, but as you say there are several active people keeping the wiki updated and keeping vandalism away, so take any free time you need without worry. Aki 15:17, 30 August 2010 (CEST)

19

As Quolnok pointed out, forthnight 19 is here and we're still pretty low on activity. I voted on A Flight to Remember making it win by 2-0, and choose it as a featured. We really need to get better activity in this field, and prep the one for 20 asap. Aki 11:10, 13 September 2010 (CEST)

Defaulting

I've implemented a defaulting featured article via these new templates Template:FeaturedArticleDefault‎ and Template:FeaturedArticleNameFortnightly‎. If we ever neglect to add a feature in time again (and we will) it will automatically grab that numbered fortnight from 2009. - Quolnok 06:24, 27 September 2010 (CEST)

You would not prefer {{CURRENTYEAR}}-1 instead of 2009? --Sviptalk 08:46, 27 September 2010 (CEST)
Theoretically, yes. But if for some reason in 2011 we don't update features for several weeks between 11 and 18 consecutively, well have no variety again. - Quolnok 10:30, 27 September 2010 (CEST)
And more importantly; if we miss one entirely in 2011, or later this year, we'd wind up with redlink feature articles on the main page with the previous year's date a year later if we miss that same week. - Quolnok 10:39, 27 September 2010 (CEST)
Or maybe the bot could fix that at year's end. --Sviptalk 14:15, 27 September 2010 (CEST)
I'm really happy with this news, everyone. We'll be able to see a different image on the Main Page at least twice a month! And that's a pretty good upgrade to me. ^^ Fan Futurama 23:29, 27 September 2010 (CEST)

The next few fortnights...

The current defaulting system is really handy. I'm thinking I set up the next few fortnights on my own and whoever wants to argue can do so, but overall it's extremely nice to have an extra in case we forget to do it in time. Try updating the list though, and add (reprise) (see the current one). Aki 21:09, 15 December 2010 (CET)

What are your (featured article) choices? San Saber 01:57, 16 December 2010 (CET)
You can see the upcoming two ones at the Infosphere:Featured articles page: Where No Fan Has Gone Before for fortnight 26 and Tinny Tim for 27. Both of these were already candidates, I just made the decision. Aki 10:05, 16 December 2010 (CET)
Nice. Yeah, there's no 27th fortnights. Fortnight 1 of 2011 starts on the 3rd, so I've moved the feature. Trivia: 2013's fortnight 26 will be three weeks long, as was 2008's. - Quolnok 01:45, 20 December 2010 (CET)
Thanks. It should be moved to the next (2011's) featured articles page (that's yet to be created) though. Aki 15:40, 20 December 2010 (CET)

2010 goes gonsis

Seeing as we're on our last fortnight for the year, the 2010 article has been archived to "Featured articles/2010". "Featured articles" still redirects there, and Infosphere:Featured articles/2011 is on its own article. On Jan 1, 2011, it should be moved to "Featured articles". Any future discussion on the featured articles should be on its talk page. Aki 16:25, 20 December 2010 (CET)

I've just shuffled this a bit. In previous years, when I've had more time, I'd started the archive about halfway through the year and done an include from the years page to hide the first few, then about 5-6 features into the next year remove the old ones entirely. Basically, I think we should try to keep at least the six most recent features on this page, regardless of whether they are from the current year. - Quolnok 21:59, 20 December 2010 (CET)
Sounds good. Thanks. Aki 13:27, 21 December 2010 (CET)

Article shortcuts

Can an admin do to this page what I did to Infosphere:Featured article nominations yesterday? (What do you mean, you can't do it?) Sanfazer 21:47, 25 February 2011 (CET)

And then make it look even better by doing something similar to this? Sanfazer 21:51, 25 February 2011 (CET)
Third time's the charm: Remember that I:FAN should become I:FA and I:Fan, I:Fa. Sanfazer 21:54, 25 February 2011 (CET)
Like so? Aki 15:53, 27 February 2011 (CET)
Yes. Thanks, Administrator Aki. Sanfazer 23:57, 1 March 2011 (CET)

Reprises... why?

For the last two fortnights, we've been doing reprises, even though there's an article (Old New York) that has two votes for and none against. Why isn't it being featured?

Hi! The short answer is because no-one's put it up. It doesn't take a lot of work to manage the FA, but someone's got to do it. I used to take care of it but I've been greatly inactive lately. That said, thanks for letting me know. I added Old New York as the new FA, and I'll be looking into the next few fortnights right away. If you want to help, the best way to do so is looking for great articles you want to see featured, and nominating them on the nominate page. Again, thanks! - akitalk 15:09, 12 July 2012 (CEST)
