The helium miners are people who work at the solar helium mine. In 3013, fifteen of them were trapped in the mine, after a collapse caused by Zapp Brannigan, but they found safe haven in the mine's doom chamber (7ACV18). Fry, Leela, and Bender were sent there, and kept laughing at their voices, which, due to the helium, were very high-pitched. Bender managed to rescue all the miners, and Mayor Poopenmeyer later awarded a medal to him.

Quotes
Helium miner #1: Stop! That's the force field hold'n' the mine open!
Leela: Attention, helium miners. Can you hear me?
Helium miner #2: For God's sake, help us!
Helium miner #3: We're in agonising pain!
[Leela, Fry, and Bender laugh.]
Leela: [to Fry and Bender, whispering] Stop laughing! [to the miners, screaming] Help is on the way!
Bender: In the meantime, you should sing a song, to keep your spirits up. How about... "Camptown Races"!
Helium miners: [singing] Camptown ladies sing this song.
Doodah. Doodah.
Helium miner #4: Thank you. Thank you, sir. You're a true hero.
