=== Break: Slightly different purpose ===
I just want to let you know that I am slightly changing the purpose of the money; I want to purchase a new server for the Infosphere, because the current server is reaching its limits.  The old server will eventually die.  The reason I mention this, is that I don't know how long the 500EUR will last for with the new server.  But it will be faster, more powerful and all that. --'''[[User:Svip|Svip]]'''[[User talk:Svip|talk]] 14:00, 29 July 2011 (CEST)

Discussion

I hate the idea of 'begging for money', but the truth is... my economy is not doing so well right now, and I fear I do not have the money to pay for the server the next couple of months. While I may hate the idea of asking for your donations, I like the idea of the server going down due to my pride even less. You can use the Infosphere:Site support if you wish to help. I am not looking for a big amount, only around 60 to 100 EUR (ca. 52 to 88GBP or 84 to 141USD).

Thanks in advance. Remember, I shan't hold anything against you if you cannot or choose not to donate. Not all are capable of that. --Sviptalk 23:40, 16 July 2011 (CEST)

I was trying to get to this with this table topic, but I never got a response. I'm certainly willing to help donate to keep the Infosphere alive, and I hope others can make a sacrifice as well. We should all pull together for this. - akitalk 13:33, 18 July 2011 (CEST)
Sadly, I am between funds right now. But that should change soon and I'll be able to make regular contributions. I hope we are able to pull together enough funds to help for now --Buddy 07:50, 19 July 2011 (CEST)
Is it a good idea to make it a Kickstarter like kind of deal (but not Kickstarter itself), i.e. with a countdown and such? I think it's a good way of encouraging people to donate. Just have it in the top of the screen with the countdown, encouraging visitors to throw in a buck or two. My point is, only a few people are visiting the conference table, but I think there's a potential for others as well to help. - akitalk 16:49, 19 July 2011 (CEST)
We did that once. And it worked pretty well. Some of the code is still saved somewhere. Maybe I should set it up again, but then I would set the goal at 500EUR. --Sviptalk 17:47, 19 July 2011 (CEST)
Sounds like a good idea. I don't know how much the Infosphere costs to run, but obviously there's no harm in getting too much either - it can easily be saved for future payments. - akitalk 19:07, 19 July 2011 (CEST)
There we go. When the cache is up, the style should look good as well. --Sviptalk 13:37, 20 July 2011 (CEST)
I also re-created this page. --Sviptalk 13:38, 20 July 2011 (CEST)
lol, editing the campaign page made the sitenotice's cache get stuck. --Sviptalk 16:40, 20 July 2011 (CEST)
Hurrah, I'm helping! I donated €10, and I'll wait and see how many others will donate, so that I'll start giving more if necessary. Ofcourse the preferable situation is if 60 people all donate €10, instead of having six people donate €100. For some reason most people who believe in Bigfoot the Infosphere are poor.
Different note: The top thingie countdown is good and all, but it doesn't link to a donation page. Shouldn't "donate to the project" be a link? - akitalk 16:46, 20 July 2011 (CEST)
Nevermind, it was fixed. - akitalk 16:46, 20 July 2011 (CEST)

Break: Slightly different purpose

I just want to let you know that I am slightly changing the purpose of the money; I want to purchase a new server for the Infosphere, because the current server is reaching its limits. The old server will eventually die. The reason I mention this, is that I don't know how long the 500EUR will last for with the new server.
