Non-canon
The Reanimator is a device created by Professor Farnsworth that works similarly to an upright toaster which instantly reincarnates a recently deceased person, with their memories intact, using X-rays, DNA samples and scrapings of the inside of one's tennis shoes. Originally, it could only work for Fry, but then Bender was added, and later Leela. When cleaning Mom's office, Igner found the Reanimator and played with its buttons until the device malfunctioned, after which it fell through a hole and was smashed to peices.
