First appearance"Space Pilot 3000" (1ACV01)
Episode

The Space Wasp is an unconfirmed alien species. It only appeared written on a folder containing the career chips of the former Planet Express crew which read: "Contents of Space Wasp Stomach". Just like any other creature with the name beginning with the word "space" this creature could not enter Slurm's golden bottle cap competition from Fry and the Slurm Factory (it was written in Alien Language 1, see image here).

Production

When they were writing "The Sting", writers wanted to ensure that the continuity was kept between the Space Wasps mentioned in the first episode, and the Space Bees mentioned in "The Sting".[1] Unfortunately bees and wasps are not found to co-mingle in any form, and as such would be a break in continuity, that they decided to go through with despite their knowledge.[1]
