Hubert J. Farnsworth (Universe 1) is a near-exact duplicate of the 'original' Hubert J. Farnsworth (Universe A). Universe 1 is a parralel reality, where the only differences are coin tosses. If it comes up heads in 1, it comes up tails in A, and vice versa. In the case of Professor Farnsworth, The Universe 1 variant had decided to go through with an experiment that the Universe A variant had decided not to. The experiment involved trying to remove one's own brain.
