First appearance | "2-D Blacktop" (7ACV15) |
The second dimension is a two-dimensional reality. In 3013, Fry, Bender, Leela, and the professor were transported there, [7ACV15] after, during a race, a new, safer Planet Express ship and a modified version of the Planet Express ship itself collided at relativistic speed. In this dimension, the crew became weightless, could not step past things, having instead to step around them, could only see things as vertical line segments, and had no digestive systems.

Production
The second dimension was first seen in a preview clip for broadcast season 10, in February 2013. It was also featured in a preview clip for 7ACV15, released in April. [1]
Additional information
Trivia
- The second dimension is a reference to the 1884 novel Flatland, which was adapted into a film in 2007.
- 7ACV15 was originally supposed to be the second episode of its broadcast season. The Beast with a Billion Backs, which also features characters in two dimensions, is the second film. "Reincarnation", which, too, features characters in two dimensions, is the second segmented episode of the second run.
Quotes
