Garfield

Garfield is a comic strip created by Jim Davis. Published since 19 June, 1978, it chronicles the life of the title character, the cat Garfield (named after Davis's grandfather); his owner, Jon Arbuckle; and Arbuckle's dog, Odie. Futurama has parodied it five times.

  • In 3000, Ipji revealed that he had saved Leela's poster of a chimp expressing her distaste for Mondays, which has "I Hate Mondays", a catchphrase of Garfield's, written on it (2ACV19).
  • In 3002, the Sewer Mutants revealed that they had constructed a large patchwork balloon from the remnants of old discarded Macy's parade balloons, one of which was Jon Arbuckle's forehead (4ACV02).
  • In 3009, there was a dog resembling Odie (US#042).
  • In 3010, Bender put eyes on a bedspring and mounted the bedspring on a plaque reading "I HATE MONDAYS" to prove to Professor Farnsworth that Robots are capable of evolution (6ACV09).
  • In 3011, Fry had Garfield syndrome and said "I hate Mondays" (6ACV18).
